Dark chocolate is good for your health and helps you walk

Who said that eating chocolate always hurts Health ? A research conducted by the La Sapienza University of Rome has shown that dark chocolate can have positive effects on blood circulation and also on ease in walking, making people faster. The results of the studies led by Lorenzo Loffredo, have been published in the Journal of the American heart association.

The dark chocolate is rich in polyphenols , which are natural antioxidants, especially useful for people suffering from cardiovascular diseases. Scientific research has been carried out using as a reference twenty people aged between 60 and 78 suffering from a disease that particularly affects the circulation of blood in the legs creating, consequently, difficulty in walking: the peripheral arterial disease. The Department of Internal Medicine of "La Sapienza" divided people into three groups: the first group ate 85% dark chocolate, the second milk chocolate, while the third nothing.

Well, at the end of the research, those who had consumed dark chocolate began to walk better, resulting faster and gaining an average of 17 meters compared to the past. The study manager, Lorenzo Loffredo, said that the analyzes carried out showed the advantages deriving from polyphenols on blood circulation. Moreover, it was also noted that those who consumed black chocolate reported a lower concentration of substances that can cause oxidative stress, while on the other two groups this did not happen. In any case, Loffredo does not sing victory and remembers that this is only a first step and that the research needs to be further explored.
